SSGP & Internal Counsel Committee

SSGP/ Internal counsel committee are constituted to provide timely support and guidance to the students.

AIM

To shape every individual entering our educational institution into a health professional who owns technical and social skills to perform optimally with the focus on holistic development.

FUNCTIONS

  • To identify struggling students early in the course and offer additional guidance and support services
  • To identify academic and learning related problems
  • To identify reasons for poor performance
  • To reduce drop out of students without completing the course and reduce emotional morbidity among students
  • To explore and ascertain the nature and extent of the issues and provide appropriate interventions
  • To coordinate student support programmes by assigning 10 students to each faculty as mentor
  • To inculcate in them good life style practices.

EMPHASIS GIVEN IN THE PROGRAMME FOR

  • Academic issues
  • Psycho-social issues
  • Physical and reproductive health issues

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

  • The committee will constitute a minimum of two faculties who have completed training provided by KUHS as nodal student support faculty
  • Mentors will be allotted for every 10 students
  • Mentor-mentee meetings will happen every 3 months
  • Make referral to professional health care personnel if suspecting a significant health issues
  • The committee will meet once in 3 months
  • Information will be given to members one-week prior specifying the agenda of the meeting
  • The minutes of the meeting are recorded and attendance sheet is maintained.
