Anti-Ragging Committee

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within and outside the college campus.  The Kerala prohibition of Ragging Act 1998 prohibits ragging in educational institutions in Kerala.  Those who are involved in ragging will have to face severe consequences including expulsion from the College/criminal proceedings as per rules.

Ragging include any conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

Objectives

  • To prevent the occurrence of ragging of any sort in the campus.
  • To effectively address any untoward incidents that occur.
  • To raise awareness among students about what constitutes ragging and it’s negative effects.
  • To set up a system for reporting ragging incidents.
  • To investigate reported incidents and take appropriate disciplinary actions.

Functions

Mar Baselios College of Nursing Management, Principal and Faculty are very serious about Anti-ragging in the institution.  Anti-ragging committee fulfill crucial functions to ensure a safe learning environment in the campus.

  • Organize seminars and awareness sessions to educate students about ragging and its harmful consequences.
  • Display informative posters around campus to spread awareness.
  • Form the anti-ragging committee, anti-ragging cell and anti-ragging squad before commencement of new academic year.
  • Set up a 24/7 helpline and designate complaint boxes in various areas of the institutions.
  • Monitor the activities by keeping vigilant observations on susceptible areas such as hostel, canteens, washrooms etc. by the anti-ragging squad.
  • Ensure fare and transparent procedures on students found guilty of ragging.
  • Offer counselling and psychological support to students in need of help.

Overall prevent, prohibit and redress any and all forms and instances of ragging in the college.
