The College Discipline Committee is established to uphold discipline among the students and to listen, provide guidance, and suggest appropriate disciplinary measures in response to complaints concerning misconduct.

Any complaints raised will be handled impartially, ensuring fairness, and maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the process.

Aim

The disciplinary committee of Mar Baselios College of Nursing, is responsible for upholding the standards and regulations of the institution.  The committee will ensure the welfare and safety of the students, faculty and other staff members to maintain the integrity of nursing profession with the following aims:

  • Ensure adherence to the code of conduct and ethical standards set by the nursing college and professional nursing organizations.
  • Investigate complaints and allegations of misconduct, inappropriate behaviour or breaches of college policies and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Promote a safe and respectful learning and working environment for all members of the college.
  • Communicate students and faculty on policies of professional ethics, standards of practice and the consequences of misconduct set by the institution.
  • Assist and support the personal and professional development of students by providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Uphold and sustain the reputation and credibility of the institution and the nursing profession as a whole.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disciplinary policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
  • Promote fairness and transparent in all disciplinary proceedings.

Function

  • Review the complaints, report of misconduct, violation of college policies or breaches of professional standards set by the institution.
  • Investigate alleged incidents of misconduct and interview relevant parties and gather evidences to determine the veracity of the allegations.
  • Conduct disciplinary meetings with the accused individual(s) and provide opportunity to hear their side of story and present any evidence or witnesses in their defence.
  • Review the findings of investigation and determine appropriate disciplinary action based on the severity of the offense in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendation to the college administration regarding disciplinary measures or other corrective measures.
